Competency Matrix

Who knows what in your organization?

The competency matrix gives the answer. A grid with employees as rows and competencies as columns — filter by team, role, or individual and see exactly where the competency sits.

Small or publicly traded. Recruitment or concrete industry. AmpliFlow fits all.

The Matrix

Your entire organization's competency in one grid

Rows are employees, columns are competencies. Each cell shows the assessment. Sort by person or competency, filter by team or role — and instantly see where gaps exist.

Reality

The auditor asks

«Demonstrate that the people performing critical tasks have the right competency.» You know it's true — but can you prove it? Without the matrix, the hunt begins through folders, spreadsheets, and emails.

The question arrives

The auditor wants evidence: which employees have competency X, and when were they last assessed?

Without a matrix

You search through Excel files, HR systems, and managers' heads. No unified picture. The auditor waits.

The nonconformity

You can't produce the evidence in time. The auditor logs a nonconformity against clause 7.2 — you lack documented proof of competency.

With AmpliFlow, you would have opened the competency matrix, filtered by role, and shown exactly who has which competency and assessment — in seconds.

FAQ

Questions about the competency matrix

Answers to what you're wondering about.

How does filtering work in the matrix?

The matrix can be filtered by person, role, and team. Select a team to see all members and their competencies — or select a role to see who meets the requirements.

Can employees see their own assessments?

Yes. Employees with CM_USER permissions can see their own competencies and assessments. Managers and administrators have a broader view for their teams.

What rating scale is used?

The rating scale is configurable with numeric values. Each cell in the matrix has a dropdown where the assessor selects a level. Your organization decides the scale — for example 1–5 or 0–3.

How does the matrix relate to the competency catalog?

The competency catalog (/tools/competence) defines which competencies exist in the organization. The matrix takes those competencies and maps them to employees — who has which competency, at what level. The catalog is "what", the matrix is "who and how much".
